The Ten Official Rules of Thumper

1. Sit so there is a clear line of sight for all players. Each player chooses a unique sign and only from the wrist out (i.e. rock, wall, pistol, finger up or down, two fingers up or down, rock horns, and so on).  This will be that player's sign for the duration of the game.

2. Players hands are on the table in front of their adult beverage, so it does not block the view.

3. Start the game by asking, "What is the name of the game." Answer "Thumper." Then ask, "Why do we play the game?"

4. If someone is at the table, they are playing whether they are paying attention or not.  If they are not paying attention, punish them.

5. The starter starts thumping and gives their sign and then another's sign.

6. The person with that second sign gives their sign and then anyone else's sign.

7. There can be a delay between signs and even a head fake or two.  But not too long.

8. The person who does not pick up their sign loses.  The loser starts the next round.

9. Pointing is a sign of poor sportsmanship.  It is forbidden.  If you point, you imbibe.  Use your elbow to direct appropriate attention.

10. If it turns in a big brouhaha, one can call "Social" and everyone probably quickly agrees to let the camaraderie ensue.  And all must imbibe.  Enjoy, for it will end too soon.
